At certain times we offer our swimmers to bring a friend. Whether they be 6 week old baby, 3 year old tot, 8 year old schoolkid or antenatal mum-to-be. If you received this offer, it is very simple to book. You can see instructions below.
Why bring a friend?
Obviously it's a fun thing to do - and that's a big reason we offer swimmers to bring a friend, however the most important reason we encourage swimmers to bring a friend is to build confidence.
It's quite simple. In order to progress in learning to swim, a student must have confidence. Try to imagine confidence on a sliding scale from 0-100. Now consider whether someone (regardless of age and ability) who has zero confidence will be able to progress as quickly as someone with confidence at 100. What do you think? Exactly. So you see, our job as a swim school, and as swim teachers is to create confidence in our students, and consistently build on that confidence week in, week out.
It doesn't matter whether someone starts with zero confidence (we often encounter this). The important thing is that we focus on continually building it.
learn to swim framework
Of course the babies & tots won't realise they are learning the foundations of swimming, but as we follow the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework (yes even for tiny tots!) they will transition from requiring full adult support (from you, mum), to travelling up to 10 metres with floatation support.
Along the way they will learn a multitude of skills, each designed to build confidence and ability. As they reach school age they will flourish with other children in the Kids' Swim Academy.
